Leif has lived in 24 different cities (mostly within the Midwest). She went to school for creative writing and spent a lot of time on photography before recently discovering painting. Leif became inspired by the many unique people she met on a road trip along Route 66, recording these encounters through drawing. When she arrived home, she began to paint, favoring the use of her hands and fingers instead of brushes. Leif draws inspiration through the Abstract Expressionism and Art Brut movements and finds ways to express her feelings and heal her spirit through her work.
